Abdul Gaffoor Mosque

Tucked away from the bustle of Little India, this mosque was completed in 1910 and recently restored. The main entrance of this mosque boasts an elaborate pediment, the center of which is a sundial. The sunburst has 25 rays, decorated with Arabic calligraphy denoting the names of 25 chosen prophets and is the only one of its kind in the Islamic world.

Also of particular interest is the framed family tree to the left of the prayer area which traces the lineage of Muslim prophets. More details of the mosque can be found on the information cards inside the mosque or on the Heritage markers located outside the mosque.
